FAQs

Q: Can't I negotiate my debts with my creditors on my own
YES. You can. But what Hudson Group provides is a highly trained team of experts who specializes in creditor negotiations and customer service relations.

Q: How do you apply?
Hudson Group  offers an instant sign up over our secured website. As well any over the phone application is as well accepted. One of our highly specialized debt consultants will review your information and determine if you are qualified for our program.

Q: Who is qualified for our program?
To qualify for the Hudson Group Plan an individual must be facing a financial Hardship. This includes individuals who are having a tough time making timely payments and usually end up behind; individuals who are making minimum amount  payments; have little or no ability to pay off their debts and are susceptible to bankruptcy.

Q: Who is NOT qualified for our program?
Hudson Group does not operate to negotiate debts for individuals who have reasonable means to pay off their debt. This program is NOT for people who have high credit ratings and can meet their monthly debt obligations.

Q: How will Hudson Group settle my debts?
Once you have fully retained our services, you’ll begin to save money into your Special Purpose Account on a monthly basis. When we receive a fair offer from a creditor OR when you have saved an anticipated settlement amount (30% - 50%) of any creditor balance, we will begin negotiations on that account. When an acceptable offer is made we'll obtain a confirming letter from the creditor. We’ll then ask you for your permission to pay and settle that account. If you give us permission, the funds will go from your Special Purpose Account directly to the Creditor. This cycle will continue to repeat with other debts. We can only settle a debt once the funds are available in your Special Purpose Account to pay that debt.

Q: Is bankruptcy a better option for me?
Anyone considering the Hudson Group Plan should also contact a bankruptcy attorney to determine if their situation warrants filing for bankruptcy. Using the Debt Settlement process does not guarantee that you will not have to file for bankruptcy in the future but it does offer an expedient method of restoring credit.

Q: Does Debt Settlement have a negative impact on my credit?
YES. Your credit score will decline due to entering this program. How much it will decline depends on your original circumstances. Most of the accounts you place into negotiation are likely to "charge off", which will reflect negatively on your credit. Once a settlement is complete individual’s credit score will increase due to better credit standing.

Q: Can I still use my credit cards?
NO. All credit cards in the program will not be active and you will not have credit privileges. But if a client is in good standing in the program and is able to meet monthly payment requirements they can become an authorized user on another individual’s credit card

Q: What will I pay for your services?
Your monthly payment consists of three parts:

1. Hudson Group’s fee is typically 15% of your total enrolled debt.
2. Your Special Purpose Account fee is $18.85 the first month followed by $9.85 every month thereafter.
3. The portion that goes into your savings and ultimately toward the debts. Unlike many companies, Hudson Group does not charge the client any additional monthly junk fees. Hudson Group also stretches out their fee over half the estimated length of the program rather than collecting a good portion of it up front. This means that you are building your settlement capital from your very first payment which in turn means that you are likely to see settlement results more quickly.

Q: Can you stop my creditors from calling?
Hudson Group makes no promises on eliminating creditors from calling but clients enrolled in our plan do see a significant reduction of calls. Once a client is enrolled a ‘Cease and Desist’ letter is sent from the Eagle One Debt Solution’s headquarters, affiliate corporation,

Q: Does this repair my credit?
The goal of Hudson Group Plan is to settle your delinquent accounts. When a delinquent account is settled this is reflected on your credit report but Hudson Group is not a credit repair firm.

Q: Can creditors garnish my wages?
Prior to garnishing your wages the creditor must sue you and successfully obtain a judgment. Garnish actions are filed post judgment.

Q: What are the tax consequences?
Your creditors will report cancelled/settled debts exceeding $600 to the IRS and you are required to report the same as income on your annual tax return. However, the IRS permits you to write off any "income" from canceled debts up to the amount by which you were "insolvent" at the time. You need to consult your own tax advisor for advice specific to your situation.
